MARCOS COLL (Armónica)
Madrid 13 may 1976.My Grandfather
came from the deep Andalucia and was a
so called"flamencologist"(the people who know the old
cante
flamenco)but
my mother although she didnt change the Jamon for the Hot Dogs, she,
prefered the Rolling Stones than Antonio Mairena....So I grew
up
listeniing to my parents records of Canned Heat,Ramones.....
At
the age
of 6 we moved to Galicia, where I met Adrian in the school. At the
age of 11 I
took violin lessons...but i was more interested in hanging, girls, and
also I didnt hear no violin in those Elvis or Little Richard records
i used to hear....Shortly after, we moved to the States where I
started to get more an more hooked on the american music.....
After
years we came back and it was my uncle Daniel Gonzalez -Lagana
also musician who introduced me to the blues.....saying things
like "If you like Elvis, then you gonna go
crazy with Big Mama Thorton..."He was damn right!!!!He was
also the first to
put a harp in my mouth!
Since then ,I felt in love with the instrument and started making
my
first amateur bands with Adrian.
Around the age of 16 when I was playing in the street with my
back then blues buddy Xulian Freire,my now good friend Alfonso
Franco offered me a
job playing everyday in his club Casa do Patin(later I became
part of
the bussiness too,programing,bartendering,cooking,cleaning,and
of course playing)From him a learned a lot about this bussiness, and
from then on, i started playing more and more professionaly, working
with my own bands as well as doing recordings for tv comercials
or studio work with many bands, from pop,to rock, reggae like the
well known band Siniestro Total. In 1999 I moved back to Madrid
,and after doing all kinds of jobs I joined
Tonky blues band, with whom I had a great time playing with greats
like
Mick Taylor and Buddy Miles(from whom I learned a lot)and also
having sessions with legends like Tom Jones!
I had a great time and started paying my dues, before starting
Los Reyes del KO.
Talking about harp ,my influeces goes from the all time greats
Sonny Boy Williamson I and II,Little Walter,Sonny Terry,Junior
Wells Charlie Musselwhite or Paul Butterfield etc etc there are
so many that I like, that a would need the holy bible to write
them down...!!!...and in Spain my good friend Naco Goni.......
Talking
just about music..............then I would need the big wall of
China!!!!!I like from Flamenco to Hip Hop,from Gospel to Funky......and
when we play in Ibiza ,dont be surprised if you
see a bluesharp player dancing trance music or house...........
